One of the benefits of city services closed for Labor Day is that parking meters will not be enforced today.  All other parking restrictions are still in effect, including Park Board meters, and those at the University of Minnesota. There is also no garbage or recycling pickup today.  Pickups normally scheduled for September 3 - 7 will occur one day later. 

Minneapolis Students Return to School on City Buses

Students at Minneapolis Public Schools headed back to the classroom Monday, but some high school students didn't get there the way they’re used to – they took Metro Transit buses instead of school buses.

Monday morning, thousands of teens from five Minneapolis high schools waited for a city bus for the first time.

Major South Minneapolis Thoroughfare Closed For 2 Weeks

The intersection of 35th Street and Nicollet Avenue in South Minneapolis, which sees 10,000 vehicles per day, will close for sewer work for the next two weeks.  The work is part of a two-year Nicollet Avenue Improvement Project.

This will affect motorists who use the 35th/36th Street exit off of Interstate 35W.

The work should be completed by July 23rd.
