Teen Visions For Peace Showcased At Area Libraries

What is the value of peace in a Minneapolis neighborhood? More than a dozen teenagers from around the city are featured in a new photography exhibit that portrays their hopes for peace and safety in their communities.

The exhibit will be on display at six libraries around Hennepin County from now through the fall.

Help Clean Uptown on Friday

The Uptown Association is holding an adopt-a-block cleanup event on Friday, June 22nd.

Uptown residents, businesses, and employees are encouraged to attend. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and participants should check in outside Stella's Fish Cafe on 1400 West Lake Street. Pre-registration is not required.

Memorial Day Ceremony Planned In Minneapolis

If you're looking to honor our military members who have died in service to the nation, a Memorial Day program, sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, is planned at the Minnesota Veterans Home, 5101 Minnehaha Avenue in South Minneapolis. The Memorial Day program starts at 2 p.m.

Minneapolis Police Honor Guard Recognized for 20 Years of Service

The Minneapolis Police Honor Guard has been in service for twenty years this month.

It was founded in May of 1992 when the police department identified a need to honor fallen police officers and participate in memorial services.

Expo Aimed at Women Who Want to be Firefighters

The North Star Women's Firefighters Association is hosting it's 7th Annual Women's Fire Service Expo this Saturday (May 12th) in Edina.

Uptown Businesses "Adopt-A-Block"

The Uptown Business Association is kicking off a new intitiative aimed at reducing graffiti, removing litter, and fighting crime.

It's "Adopt-A-Block" program asks community and business leaders to take the initiative in cleaning up their blocks. The business association will provide the supplies and training.
