Chik's Pics Photo Slideshow: Minneapolis Monarch Festival | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
The cool, breezy weather made for a comfortable day outdoors for last Saturday's 2nd Annual Minneapolis Monarch Festival. The festival featured music, food, kids arts and crafts, and information on the annual migration of Monarch butterflies from Minnesota to Mexico.
I took my little girl to the festival. She's a huge butterfly fan and we just finished reading a book called "The Travels of Monarch X." We donated a dollar for a butterfly that we released in the gardens at Lake Nokomis. It was such fun to watch the butterflies land on the flowers and fly around. For some lucky kids, butterflies actually landed on them!
If you missed this year's festival, you can mark your calendar now for next year's event: September 10th, 2011 at Lake Nokomis.
